owl made from a fencepost. Farmers often carved their fence posts
in their spare time during long winter months for amusement.
This carving possibly served a purpose too - crows hate owls
and avoid them when possible. In the spring through the fall
this carving might have kept the crows away from nearby crops
or attracted them into shotgun range. (CS-12)
