Wonderful carving of a sheep
or lamb with a full coat of wool. Found in Maine and believed
to be American made, although it could be British. The artist,
unfortunately, is unknown. He or she carved elevated swirls throughout
the piece to simulate wool, with great effect. Approximately
11"L x 8 ½"H at head and 6"H at back. Carved
from one solid block of wood. There are some minor age lines,
as might be expected, and one on the back was touched up a while
ago. There is also a secure line in the right front hoof, but
the piece is unique, in good overall condition and displays very
well. Circa 19th or very early 20th century. (CO-1)
