used for "flensing" (separating) blubber from a whale.
Cast iron with a wooden handle. The mid shaft protuberance
most likely was used as a foot-hold to force the blades into
the blubber. 50" long. This item probably dates to the
late 18th - early 19th century and is believed to be American.
