- Early spruce gum box with
unusual frontal sliding lid. In original forest green, black
and red paint with detailed geometric chip carving. 5"H
x 3 5/8"W x 3 ½"D. Has one old split line on
back side which is secure and scarcely noticeable, along with
some expected wear from use. We believe this box may have preceded
the early 1880's - the time traditionally assigned for the beginning
of the spruce gum collection era. (CK-35)
