- Child's play horse on wheels.
Carved in various sections and assembled with metal braces. At
one time it had a saddle and some reins. This item was in rough
shape when we purchased it. There were many early "repairs",
undoubtedly some made by child owners, with many protruding nails
which we removed because they were a safety hazard. Some of the
nails used had large flat heads and were too big for the job,
resulting in separation of the hoof. We restored a couple of
the hooves, but left some of the nails in place in one foot to
illustrate the clumsy repairs and avoid causing damage during
removal. Ears and mane are missing and tail may be a later replacement.
f early American folk art. Found in Vermont. Circa 19th century.
