- Funky and folky little bird
carving. We suspect that it was intended to be a duck, but it
could also be a sitting quail or grouse. Has relief carved folded
wings, cross hatched breast and incised mouth and eyes. Paint
has been daubed on. The intent of the maker was obviously to
create a comedic caricature, as Wilhelm Schimmel did in his carvings.
He, or she, clearly succeeded. We believe that this carving was
made in Pennsylvania and dates to the late 19th century. 8"L
